Brownfield/Greenfield Electrical Design of Pumping Stations

An Australian open cut coal mine with extensive electrical infrastructure required the relocation of its water management assets to cater for the mines expansion. The mine had been in operation for many years and previous electrical installations had experienced extensive damage due to temperature rise of electrical panels.

PCE assisted with liaison between the mine, switchboard supplier and switchboard manufacturer to finalise a design solution that complies with the latest updates to type testing standards AS/NZS 61439.1:2016.

The project required the design and specification of a new kiosk transformer, design of four new motor control centres (MCC’s) and two distribution boards for remote instrumentation of pumping assets. This included earthing and protection design of all new assets and project assistance during construction.
